About Playbook
Playbook is building the Operating Memory for regulated industries.
In life sciences and other highly regulated sectors, companies run on thousands of written procedures — SOPs, work instructions, policies, manuals, and how-to guides. Employees are expected to find, understand, follow, and stay trained on the right procedure at the right moment. That system is breaking under the weight of information overload.
Playbook turns procedural documents into structured, usable data — making critical operational knowledge consumable by humans, software systems, and AI agents. This living layer of procedural knowledge is what we call Operating Memory.
We work with leading global life sciences companies and are building the foundational data model for procedural knowledge in regulated industries. We're an early-stage, founder-led company with high ambition, high standards, and a strong bias toward execution.
Why now
Enterprise AI agents can't run on fragile data pipelines. They need deterministic, auditable, and low-latency infrastructure under the hood.
The Role
Our frontend spans multiple applications and a growing set of shared libraries — a large, mature codebase where changes have to be made deliberately, not bolted on. We're partway through consolidating it into a single Nx monorepo, and our design system has to hold up as the product grows across desktop, tablet, and floor use.
We're hiring a Senior Frontend Developer to design and build features in this codebase end-to-end, from spec to production. You don't need to write C#, but you'll shape and consume the APIs our .NET/ASP.NET Core backend exposes. Your job is to own the quality of what ships — component boundaries, state and data-fetching patterns, render performance, bundle size — and to have a direct hand in how our project graph, shared libraries, module boundaries, and CI pipeline end up looking.
You will report directly to our VP of Platform Engineering and operate as a senior Individual Contributor, reviewing code and setting the standard the rest of the team codes to. Your KPIs are concrete: render performance and bundle size across the frontend, real-device reliability on tablet and phone, and steady progress on the Nx consolidation without breaking the teams building on top of it.
What you’ll own
Design and build features in our React + TypeScript frontend, from spec to production
Work closely with our .NET/ASP.NET Core backend, shaping and consuming the APIs you depend on
Own the quality of what you ship: sensible tests, sane error states, an eye on bundle size and render performance
Take a genuine architectural view of component boundaries, state management, data-fetching patterns, and how our design system holds up as it grows
Review code thoughtfully and set the standard the rest of the team codes to
Help drive our move to an Nx monorepo, shaping the project graph, module boundaries, and CI as we consolidate our frontend
What you'll bring
5+ years building production frontends, with meaningful depth in React and TypeScript
Strong fundamentals: modern JavaScript, the DOM, browser rendering, accessibility, and CSS that survives contact with real content
Real cross-device experience — our interfaces need to hold up on tablet and phone, not just a narrower desktop
Comfortable in a modern toolchain: Vite (or similar), package managers, CI, Git-based workflows
Experience with state and data-fetching patterns at scale (React Query/TanStack, Zustand) — trade-off thinking matters more than specific tools
You debug from evidence, read dependency source when needed, and own ambiguous work through to done
Nice to have:
Design systems or component libraries
Monorepo tooling (Nx, Turborepo), or migration experience
Testing across levels (Vitest/Jest, RTL, Playwright)
Exposure to .NET or another typed backend
PDF, complex data tables, or rich-text editor experience
Fluent with AI-assisted dev tooling, used as leverage
Why Playbook®
Define the production backbone of a new category at the intersection of enterprise software, regulated operations, and AI infrastructure.
Foundation
This role has real influence on the foundation of the company. You will shape the architecture that every future product capability is built on.
Build from Zero
Real ownership from day one. High ambition, high standards, and a strong bias towards execution - with the runway to ship.
An emerging category
Work at the intersection of AI, compliance, and enterprise operations — genuinely new ground.
State-of-the-art hardware
A hardware setup of your choice, designed for deep, focused engineering work.
Remote-first, high-trust
A culture where execution and impact are what matter — not hours or optics.
Think this is your
kind of challenge?
Send us your CV, a short note on why you'd be a great fit, and links to anything you've built. We're looking forward to hearing from you.
